HSG Best Talents Programme:
Impact through empowering talents

The HSG Best Talents Programme is unique in Switzerland and supports outstanding and committed students across all Master’s degree programmes. With financial support and a tailored accompanying programme, we attract and develop the specialists and leaders of tomorrow.

Together with you - our donors and funding partners - we attract the most talented and dedicated students to the University of St.Gallen (HSG). We support them in developing their full potential and encourage them to take on responsibility as specialists and leaders in business, society, and the environment. For a strong university and a competitive region in the future.

“Targeted talent development attracts young people with great potential and fosters their long-term commitment to the university, St.Gallen and Switzerland.”

Enrichment through Scholarship

«I became a Junior Analyst at HIC Capital, served as Vice President of the Neo Network St.Gallen, represented students in the Student Parliament, and supported events such as the St. Gallen Symposium and the START Summit. These experiences, made possible by the scholarship, enriched my education and would have been difficult to pursue otherwise.»

Essential support

«The Excellence Scholarship has been a crucial support for my academic journey at HSG. It alleviated the financial burden of my studies and enabled me to participate in an exchange programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Moreover, the scholarship served as a real motivation to maintain high academic standards and pursue a promising career path. I am very grateful for the scholarship.»

Constance Allet, 23, Bachelor in Business Administration and Management, Recipient of the Excellence Scholarship

Our challenge

The competition for the best talent as tomorrow's leaders is more intense than ever. Thanks to attractive support programmes, top universities attract the best students. Without such an offering, the University of St.Gallen (HSG) will lose these top talents. With the HSG Best Talents Programme, we attract the most promising students and develop them together into responsible leaders who are equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

Competition
The international competition for the most talented and motivated students is more intense than ever. Without such an offering, HSG will in future lose top talents.
VUCA-World
We are living in a highly complex, volatile world, and our economy and society need professionals who are prepared to take on those challenges.
Competitiveness
Top talents are crucial for ensuring that our universtity, economy and society remain competitive.

Our Solution: The HSG Best Talents Programme

To meet the future challenges of the economy, we rely on entrepreneurial, responsible specialists and managers. With the HSG Best Talents Programme, starting in 2026, we will attract outstanding bachelor's graduates from EU and EFTA countries to St.Gallen to begin their master's degree and provide them with targeted support. Our Best Talents are:

  • Competent
Best Talents are distinguished by their excellent academic achievements.

  • Engaged
Best Talents are actively involved in society, business, the environment, and the HSG community— before, during, and after their studies.

  • Responsible
Best Talents demonstrate a strong sense of individual and social responsibility.

  • Diverse
Best Talents bring a variety of perspectives.

  • Visionary
Best Talents have a genuine interest and healthy ambition to make a difference in business and society.

What makes the programme unique

The HSG values of "holistic, committed, and cooperative" form the basis of this programme. The holistic support offered to scholarship recipients is unique. The programme combines diverse opportunities for engagement, access to the exclusive HSG network, valuable exchange opportunities within the constantly growing HSG Best Talents peer group, financial relief, and personal development through mentoring and the strengthening of future skills.

Supporting and challenging talents

  • Attracting the best talents
Each year, up to 45 outstanding prospective Master's students from our 13 Master's programs are accepted into the Excellence Program.

  • Challenging talents
The programme challenges talented individuals. They are encouraged to demonstrate initiative and take on responsibility within and outside the University of St.Gallen (HSG) in the areas of society, business, or the environment. Where possible and appropriate, this takes place in collaboration with our funding partners (e.g., case studies, internships).

  • Holistic support
The programme combines a unique set of personal, professional, and financial support. Fellows receive diverse opportunities for engagement, individual mentoring, and comprehensive support in developing essential future skills—both academically and intellectually.

  • Academic excellence
A scholarship covering their tuition fees, a living allowance of approximately CHF 10,000 for the duration of the programme of 2-4 semesters, and a contribution of up to CHF 5,000 for extracurricular activities motivates and supports these talented students to continue achieving top performance and engaging in diverse activities.

  • Access to an excellent network
These talented students gain early access to the network of the University of St.Gallen, HSG Alumni, and our supporting partners. They become part of the ever-growing HSG Best Talents peer group and benefit from the exchange among one another. Furthermore, they gain access to leading figures in business and society. In this way, we are building an HSG community of outstanding Master's graduates who maintain a long-term connection with HSG, actively shape its future, and give back to the programme.

“I like the holistic approach of the HSG Best Talents programme very much indeed. Outstanding students are supported in a targeted and individualised way for the benefit of the community, the university, and the economy. In this way, we contribute to the reputation, success, and positive impact of the HSG and its alumni in society.”
